Practice Psychology in Beautiful Muskoka!

How would you like to practice psychology in the heart of Ontario’s most beautiful vacation destination?! Imagine living on one of several lakes dotting the area, surrounded by towering pines, majestic rock faces, and clean fresh air – all just two hours north of Toronto! Join our growing team of psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, rehabilitation therapists and support staff!

Messages from our Team:

I grew up cottaging in Huntsville, and did so until I eagerly relocated my family here, to our forever home, in 2008 to pioneer Brainworks’ expansion into the area. Until we arrived, this area was significantly underserviced; but as we have grown, individuals living with serious injuries are now able to access high quality rehabilitation services locally. I’ve had the honour of handpicking a wonderful team of caring and competent rehabilitation professionals! We are excited about another psychologist joining us here in the most beautiful place on earth!

Want to get out of the office to work with your clients: unchained from your desk with the freedom of helping your clients to get activated, face their fears, and have the flexibility that office-based treatment sometimes prevents? Working at Brainworks has provided me that and more. Working here in Huntsville has permitted me to live where I spent my summers growing up and avail myself of a lifestyle that I have sought throughout my professional career. I spent 25 years trying to find a place to live that provided me with the sense of connectedness I had with Muskoka and the surrounding area and have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to come back.

The culture at Brainworks allows me to have the flexibility to enjoy where I live while at the same time offering me stimulating, flexible and rewarding work. The Muskoka lifestyle has permitted my family and I to be active and more relaxed than living in the city ever did, while still being just a couple hours from Toronto. Every Friday afternoon in the summer when I picture the traffic heading North on highways 400 and 11, I am on my bike enjoying a leisurely ride which is usually followed by a swim in Lake Muskoka. While my friends in Southwestern Ontario are spending hours commuting, I am either working in my home office or driving leisurely to the office or to a client’s home. My family and I have never had it so good!

I have worked as an assessment psychologist for 38 years in three provinces. This includes general assessments, psycho-educational assessments, psycho-vocational assessments, forensic assessments, and neuropsychological assessments. In addition to this, I have a specialty in Intellectual Developmental Disabilities. Over the years, I have worked in an Institution for those with intellectual delays (11 years), private practice (24 years), a Health Region (2 years), and now with Brainworks. In this time, I have completed over 5000 assessments, and, although this has been a very satisfying and rewarding career, I have always felt something was missing. In my perception, this was working within a highly principled professional and seasoned team that would become my professional family. I feel that I have found my professional family at Brainworks. It is not only welcoming and supportive but also reliant on the professional acumen and integrity of its members. In comparison to working in a private practice, Brainworks affords me the opportunity to follow my goals/dreams; to interact and have intellectual debates with knowledgeable colleagues of various professional backgrounds, and, most importantly, to belong. In addition, I live in a very beautiful part of Ontario where the Summers are inviting, and the Winters are spectacular!
